I see references to "Eka Shanthi" a karma done to parents by the sucessors & clan when parent to whom the Eka Shanthi karma turns 71( ie 71 complete and starts on 72) as per Janma Nakshathra.
I vaguely remember my beloved father's friend could not complete "Bhima ratha Shathi" to his parents as they forgot-to/unaware-of, and my dad took him to Shri.Sarma(near East Boulevard Road, in Trichy who is learned scholar and close to HH. MahaPeriva and Kanchi Mutt). Shri. Sarma suggested this "Eka Shanthi" Karma and it all went well. Now I would like to know more about this "Eka Shanthi" Karma.
What exactly it is?
Why should this be done?
How is one performed?
What the rituals(Sadangu), vaitheegam and veda manthras associated?
How different is the Sankalpa etc to rest of the popular Shanthi Karmas?
How many Vaitheegaaal needed?
How relevant is it to perform in ShriRangam/ThiruKadayur?

NB: Another positing here by Shri SarmaShasthrigal about Bhima Ratha Shanthi reminded me of Shri.Sarma whom I have referred above and he must be in his 90s now. He left Trichy and became served at Kanchi Mutt residentially roughly 28 years ago.
