The Athirudra Maha Yajna is the highest form of worship to Lord Siva. It is a very rare opportunity to participate in or witness "The Athirudra Maha Yajna" in one's lifetime. The Sage of Kanchi, Shri Chandrasekarendra Saraswathi Mahaswamigal said:"The four Vedas (Rig, Yajur, Sama and Atharva) are the roots of our religion Rudram is the most sacred means of worshipping Lord Siva. There are four kinds of Rudra Parayana and homams: Rudram, Ekadasa Rudram, Maha Rudram and Athirudram; each has greater significance than its preceding one. 'Athi' means "ultimate". Therefore, Athirudram is the highest form of worship of Lord Shiva. Athirudram is a destroyer of all sorrows and the provider of 'Kshema'."It is widely recognized that participating, sponsoring, and conducting Maha Rudram Yagnam is a blessing bestowed by the Lord himself.
