Dear Sir,
What is the significance of OUpasanam?
I would like to perform the Nithya OUpasanm daily. However, due to the limitations of the work, I wont be able to do it daily. In such situation, can I perform "Vichhinna OUpasanam" on my own (without Vadhyar) and continue the daily ritual?
I am also interested in learning to perform homas like GAnapathy homam. How can I learn?
Regards, Shekar.

Dear Sri shekarkcIt is advisable to start doing Aupasanam only when you would be in a position to keep doing it regularly without any break whatsoever. Until such time, keep practicing the other dharmas and consult your Vadhyar to give Dhaanam once in a while - especially during Amavasya or Ishti days, you can partake some of the punya by giving appropriate dhaanam to eligible agnihotri or those doing aupasana regularly. Please consult your family priest to get further insights in to the topic of homas, as some of the practices would revolve around family traditions or origins (for instance, there are both vaideeka and tantrika patterns for performing Ganapathy Homam).

समारोपणम् अवारोपणम् च [6/12/2021, 2:40 pm] Ramaswamy: Kindly see the above pages from Smrithi Mukthaaphalam Volume 3 Annika Kandam. Page127 The highlighted lines speak about preservation of Aupasana Agni. It says the Agni can be preserved in the body of the Yajamana, in Samiths and in Arani. Can one do Aupasanam this way without keeping the Agni externally in a pot etc. Can you clarify this point ? We may also consult others If it is a valid practice could you please give also the mantra to be recited for ATHMA SAMAROPANAM., that is , keeping the Agni in the body of Yajamana It is said that the Yajamana showing the hands above Agni with the mantra ...Yaate Agni+.......... Ehi and bring the hand to the face. The mantra is given above. Where is this Mantra occuring in the Veda? Also there is a mantra to be recited for Avaropanam next day? This will enable many persons , who could not preserve Agni due to practical difficulties, like me, to do Aupasanam. Apastamba permits this saying that such Agni will not be lost due to asoucham.
