SAMPOORNA YAJUR VEDA PARAYANAM at NAIMISARANYAM


You are aware that Naimisaaranyam is a holy town in central Uttar Pradesh on the banks of the river Gomati. It is a Punya Kshetram where Maharishi Veda Vyasa classified the Vedas into Rig, Yajur, Sama & Atharavana. This holy place is 90 kms by road from Lucknow.


All the significant Puranaas and Itihaasas like Srimad Bhagawatham, Skanda Purana, Linga Purana, Vayu Purana, Matsya Purana, Shiva Purana, Varaha Purana, etc. have references and association with Naimisaaranyam. In the Mahabharata and Srimad Bhagavatam there are stories extolling the significance of this place. The very first sloka of Srimad Bhagavatam, after the dhyana slokas, speaks about this holy place.


It is also one of the 108 Divyadesams.

Chanting of Veda mantras and slokas has an important role in a Hindu’s spiritual journey, and doing so at a confluence of divinity amplifies the impact on the individual and the world itself.

SAMPURNA YAJUR VEDA PARAYANAM

With this backdrop, it has been resolved by some of us under the guidance of Sri Sarma Sastrigal of Chennai to hold a congregation of eminent vedic pundits in Naimisaaranyam, grouped suitably to have a Sampurna Yajur Veda Parayanam organised on the 17th of May 2013.

ARUNA PRASNAM (Surya Namaskaram), VISHNU SAHASRA NAMAM, etc:

In addition to this it is planned to have separate parayanms by different people/bhakthas of the following : Arunaprashnam, Ekadas Rudram-Chamakam, Vishnu Sahasranamam.

AVAHANTI HOMAM

You will be glad to learn that Avahanthi Homam also will be conducted during the course of a day.

ANNADANAM;

The limitless spiritual grandeur of the Vedas calls for chanting by pundits of the highest learning. Considering the distance from Chennai, this event will need them be away from Chennai for at least three days. Suitable arrangements for their travel, stay and food would have to be made, and such a spiritual event would be considered fulfilled only with Annadanam for the locals at the venue.

These likely expenses have been estimated and the budget for this event works out approximately to Rs. Four Lakhs.


Yatra Daanam – Rs. 50,000/- each - 3 spots available, to take care of travel costs

Anna Daanam – Rs. 35,000/- each - 2 spots available, to take care of boarding & lodging

Vaidhiga Sambhavanai – Rs. 25,000/- each - 5 spots available, to take care of honorarium of scholars

Homa Daanam – Rs. 10,000/- each - Multiple; for various homa & puja items and other associated expenses

Apart from the above name Daanams, contributions of all sizes are welcome.

You can also register to be a 'Volunteer' and help in coordination of various arrangement

AUDIO-VIDEO PRESENTATION on RETURN

For the benefit of donors who could not make the trip, it is proposed to conduct a brief function after returning to Chennai, having Veda parayanam, an audio-visual presentation of the Naimisaaranyam event followed by distribution of prasadam.
