Namaskaram. We are planning to conduct Upanayanam
for my son at home in Mumbai.
1) Can Nandi be performed on the day of the Upanayanam. My Shastrigal suggests we do that but I am
not sure whether it is the correct way.
2) Can Nandi be done on an earlier date with Samaradhanai
and does the vadu have to be present for the same ?
3) Also we were told that my son has pitru dosham in his
horoscope and were asked to do thila homam. Is there
anyway this can be combined with nandi or poonal rituals.

Thanks for your message. Here are the answers to your questions in the same order:
1) Ideally, Naandi Sraadham be done on an earlier day ahead of Upanayanam - does not have to be just one day earlier but even within one week preceding the upanayanam, closer to the day is better.
2) Yes, can be done on an earlier date as mentioned above - ideal that the vadu be present to receive the blessings of Elders.
3)Thila Homam need not be combined with the upanayanam rituals. This can be performed separately.

Namaskaram, 1) is Naandhi applicable for both Bride and groom? 2) I believe it needs to be done separately in their (bride & groom) house? 3) is it any harm to take photos of this function/homam ? (Naandhi) 4) how many vaadhiyaar is mandatory to be present for Naandhi? 5) wat should be the ideal / best days or thithi to perform Naandhi?
