OM SRI GURUPYO NAMAHA,RESPECTFUL PRANAMS TO SRI KANCHI MAHA PERIVA
The Supreme One deals with atmas in eight different ways, depending upon the occasion. Four of these ways are common for all atmas. The Lord is Prerita — that is He directs and controls all atmas. He is Karta — the doer of actions. He is Phalaprada — the one who gives the fruits of actions. He is Phali — the prime beneficiary of all actions, elaborated M.K. Srinivasan, in a discourse.
The Supreme One is also an indifferent onlooker (Udaaseena), following a hands off policy. He is also Saakshi — the witness to all our deeds. If we do wrong, and there is the possibility that His intervention will correct us, He doesn’t hesitate to step in. This means that while we continue to do wrong, without feeling remorseful for our deeds, He isn’t going to do anything. But if we realise our faults, and surrender to Him, He is ready to forgive us and embrace us. He says as much during the Rama avatara. When Vibhishana comes to surrender to Rama, the general feeling of those in Rama’s camp is against Vibhishana. But Rama is not willing to turn away one who has come to surrender to Him. In fact, He goes to the extent of saying that even if Ravana had surrendered to Him, He would have forgiven him and not turned him away. The Lord is Anumantha — that is the One who permits actions, which are in keeping with His will. He is Sahakaari, which means He co-operates with us, when we do what pleases Him. He comes down to our level and answers our questions, as He did in the case of Arjuna. He is Udaaseena and Saakshi, in the case of those who are not fully devoted to Him. He is Anumantha and Sahakaari in the case of those who are exclusively devoted to Him and surrender to Him. Those who surrender to Him must never for a minute doubt that they will be saved. He never lets down those who place their trust in Him. His rushing to the rescue of Gajendra is proof of His love for His devotees.
