What Periva says is to cut down on wasteful time spend (and wasteful expenditure too, consequentially). He has always been critical of people eating at Hotels (He called it as club) and also of people watching movies/television shows, where those shows generally captivate your mind and keep you glued to the seat for a long while.
If you can stay clear of such habits (in the name of entertainment), you will find that you have lot more time to spare for doing seva to others, which will more than "entertain" your mind - it would actually end up cleansing your mind and body.
Hope this clarification helps.

How many people, especially the affluent, waste their precious time and money in extravaganza, justifying such "enetrtainments' are "necessary' once in a way, to relieve them of their stress! It is not only harming them but also sow the wrong seeds in the young minds of children; which, they realize but succumb to those mind--poisoning pleasures.
