For one year no kolam in nadu vaasal of the house in the street. But spray cowdung water daily in the nadu vaasal on the road. Daily you wash your house. you may put kolam in the pooja room. you may do daily routine poojas., manthra japams, sandhya vandhanam, gayathri japam chanting slokas. You may lit kuthu vilakku in the pooja room or in the pooja place.
only daily pooja on srijayanthy, vinayaka chathurthy, (You can chant rudhram, chamakam, purusha sooktham, all sahasra namams, slokams.) navarathry, saraswathy pooja and deepavali and pongal.days. you can prepare on the next day of each festival sweets ansd savories to munch . You should not do on that day kai murukku,seedai, kolukatai etc;
You can take oil bath on deepavali time but should not wear new clothes, no pattasu or sweets and savouries. Do karadian nonbu pooja and wear kair on the hand. without preparing karadai.
At death, the physical body's funeral is performed. For further journey of the atma another body called aativahika sharira is created by the performer of the death rites. This is done by providing pindas to the
atma from day 1 to day 9. Some provide all the pindas together on the 9th day. This is not appropriate. How the pindas provided on each day is utilized is given below.
Day 1 - creation of head
Day 2 - creation of eyes, ears and nose Day 3 - creation of neck, shoulder and hands
Day 4 - creation of back, sides, stomach, hips and private parts Day 5 - creation of thighs, knees and crus
Day 6 - creation of ankles, feet, fingers and marmas (vulnerable nerve centres) Day 7 - creation of bones, skull and marrow
Day 8 - creation of nails and hair Day 9 - creation of strength and energy
With the body so acquired, the atma proceeds to the next world.
After thirteenth day we can have regular shaving. only the kartha who is doing sodhakumpam and masyam every month should not do shaving on that paksham. or three days brfore you must stop shaving.
punyahavachanam must be done in each place of living though the son is living in the upstairs on the same house or in the same villas. it is only a small function .only one sastrikal is enough.
mattai thenkai with dakshina is enough to do cow dhaanam.

த்விதியை, ஸப்தமி, த்வாதசி, என்ற பத்ர திதிகள், ஞாயிறு, செவ்வாய், சனி என்ற மூன்று கிழமைகள், புனர்பூசம்,உத்ரம், விசாகம்,உத்ராடம், பூரட்டாதி என்ற த்ரிபாத நக்ஷத்திரங்கள், --இவற்றுள் மூன்று சேர்ந்து சம்பவித்தால் த்ரிபுஷ்கரம் எனப்படும். இரண்டு சேர்ந்து சம்பவித்தால் த்விபுஷ்கரம்.
தோஷமற்ற நாட்கள் கிடைக்காவிட்டால் அந்தந்த காலங்களின் கடைசி தினத்தில் செய்ய வேண்டும்.
வருஷாப்தீகத்திற்கு பொதுவாக செய்ய வேண்டியவை.
யஜூர் வேதம் ஆபஸ்தம்ப ஸூத்ரம் : மற்ற வேதம், சூத்திரங்களுக்கு சில மாறுதல்கள் இருக்கும்.
ஊன மாசிகம். 340 நாட்களுக்கு மேல் 355 நாட்களுக்குள் ஒரு நல்ல நாள் பார்த்து செய்ய வேண்டும்.

த்விதியை,,சப்தமி, த்வாதசி என்ற திதிகள், க்ருத்திகை, புனர்வஸு, உத்ரம்,விசாகம், உத்திராடம், , பூரட்டாதி என்ற நக்ஷதிரங்கள், ஞாயிறு, செவ்வாய், சனி என்ற வாரங்கள் இவைகளில் மூன்று சேர்ந்தால்,
த்ரிபுஷ்கரம், இரண்டு சேர்ந்தால் த்விபுஷ்கரம், இம்மாதிரி வந்தாலும் ஊன மாசிகம் இந்த நாட்களில் செய்ய க்கூடாது.
சாஸ்த்ரிகள் இவைகளை பார்த்து ஒரு நாள் பார்த்து சொல்வார். இந்த ஊன ஆப்தீகத்திற்கு ச்ராத்த சமயல் .மற்ற ஊன மாசிகம் செய்தது போல் . ஹோமம் உண்டு. இந்த மாசிகத்தின் போது இதற்கு முன்னால் மாசிகம்
செய்ய முடியாது விட்டு போயிருந்தால் இப்போது அவைகளயும் சேர்த்து செய்ய வேண்டும். விட்டு போன மாசிகம் களுக்கு அரிசி, வாழைக்காய், தக்ஷிணை யாவது இன்று அவசியம் தக்ஷிணையுடன் கொடுக்க வேண்டும்..
இறந்த தமிழ் மாதம், பக்ஷம், திதிக்கு முதல் நாள் சோதகும்பம் செய்ய வேண்டும். ஒரு வாத்யாருக்கு சாப்பாடு. சமாராதனை சமையல். சோத கும்பமும் பிதா முதலிய மூவரை க்குறித்து செய்யப்படும் ச்ராத்தமே.
ஆனால் கர்தாவிற்கும் போக்தாவிற்கும் பார்வண ச்ராத்ததிற்கான உள்ள நியமங்கள் இல்லை. பிரும்ம யஜ்ஞம் , தேவ பூஜை செய்த பிறகும் இதை செய்யலாம். பன்னிரண்டாம் நாள் முதல் 364 ம் நாள் வரை தினமும் செய்ய வேண்டும் என அக்காலத்தில் எழுதி இருக்கிறார்கள்.
நியமம் அதிகம் இல்லாததால் இதற்கு சாஸ்திரிகள் வரணத்திற்கு ஒப்பு கொள்வார்கள். ஆனால் மாசிகத்திற்கு நியமம் அதிகம் உள்ளதால் சாஸ்திரிகள் மற்றவர்களை அனுப்புவார்கள்.
இன்று ஸோத கும்பம் சாப்பிட்ட வாத்யாருக்கு ஒரு பவுன் தங்கத்தில் ஒரு மோதிரம், , வெள்ளி பஞ்ச பாத்ர உத்திரிணி, வெள்ளி பவித்ரம் ஒன்று, 9x5 வேஷ்டி ,டவல்,
குடை, செருப்பு, விசிறி, ((பசு தானம், பூமி தானம்,)), மட்டை தேங்காயும் சந்தன கட்டையும், பித்ளை சொம்பு (ஒரு லிட்டர் கொள்ளலவு) வெள்ளி கிண்ணத்தில் தேன் தானம் தர வேண்டும்.

பஞ்ச தானம்: பித்தளை சொம்பு ஜலத்துடன், மணி, வேத புத்தகம். ஒன்பதுx, 5 வேஷ்டி, தீபம், தீபத்தில் நெய் ஊற்றி, திரி போட்டு, எரிய விட்டு தீப ஜ்யோதி கர்த்தாவை பார்த்து இருக்குமாறு வைத்துக்கொண்டு தானம் செய்ய வேண்டும். இவைகளையும் தானம் செய்ய வேண்டும்.
வர்ஷாப்தீகம்:
சிராத்த சமையல். விஸ்வேதேவர், பித்ரு இருவர் சாப்பாடு. இவர்கள் இருவருக்கும் தங்க மோதிரம், வெள்ளி பஞ்ச பாத்ர உத்திரிணி, , வெள்ளி பவித்ரம் ஒன்று, வெள்ளி கிண்ணத்தில் தேன் ,
குடை, பாத ரக்ஷை, விசிறி, பித்தளை சொம்பு, டவல், 9x5 வேஷ்டி, பஞ்ச தானம் மட்டை தேங்காய், சந்தன கட்டை, இவைகளை இன்று மறுபடியும் தானம் செய்ய வேண்டும்.
சுபம்: இன்று நவகிரஹ ஹோமம், ஆயுஷ்ய ஹோமம், செய்கின்றோம். நவகிரக சமித்து, நவகிரக தான்யங்கள், நவகிரக வஸ்த்ரங்கள் , சமித்து, ஹவிஸ், நெய் ஹோமம்..
வீட்டிலுள்ள நபர்களின் பெயர், நக்ஷத்திரம், ராசி பேப்பரில் எழுதி சாஸ்த்ரிகளிடம் கொடுத்து விடவும். அதை பார்த்து அவர் ஆயுஷ்ய ஹோமம் செய்து விடுவார்..
நான்கு அல்லது ஐந்து சாஸ்த்ரிகள் வந்து இதை செய்து கொடுப்பார்கள் அவர்களுக்கு சாப்பாடு போடவும். தக்ஷிணை கொடுக்கவும்.
சாஸ்திரிகள் கர்த்தாவின் financial status க்கு தகுந்தாற்போல் தானப் பொருட்கள் , தக்ஷிணை பெற்றுக்கொள்வதால் நான் இங்கு எழுதுவது அதிக பக்ஷமாகவே இருக்கும்..
உதாரணம்: நவகிரக தான்யங்கள் ஒவ்வொன்றும் 50 கிராமும் வைத்து செய்யலாம். 500 க்ராம் ஒவ்வொன்றும் வைத்தும் செய்யலாம். மிக பெரிய பணக்காரர்கள் 50 க்ராம் தான்யம் வைப்பார்கள்.
வைதீகர்களுக்கு, ஏழை ப்ராமணர்களுக்கும் கர்மா செய்து வைக்க வேண்டி இருப்பதால் அவர்களிடம் குறைவாகவும் மிக ப்பெரிய பணக்காரர்களிடம் அதிக மாகவும் வாங்கி சரி செய்து கொள்வார்கள்.
தானம் செய்யும் பொருட்களில் வேறு பாடுகள் இருக்கும். வைதீகர்கள் இதை நிரந்தரமாக ஓர் அளவு சொல்வதில்லை.

During all the ten days the jeevan will remain invisible and in a very subtle form,listening to the words spoken by the visitors ,making the enquiries and observing all the events at the place. That is why it is necessary during those ten days to enquire about the grief and recall the good deeds and help rendered by the deceased soul to others.
These acts makes the jeevan of the deceased happy. gossip should be avoided. should not talk ill of the deceased.during these ten days. Our sastras says all the friends of the deceased must also come and those helped by the deceased should visit the house to enquire grief.
It is best to make the enquiries on the day of death, and remain close to the bereaved and assisting them.If this is not possible, one can visit the house on even days except monday, tuesday and friday., even the monday is an even day thanjavur dist. people will avoid going to the deceased house.
If the husband dies while the wife is alive , the obsequies enquiry should not be made on tuesdays and fridays. and ladies should go there after consuming some food and tieing one manjal in the saree thalapu. On the first day and on the 10th day all can go to enquire. there is no restriction. On the first day you may go for enquiry till the body of the deceased is still on that house. you should not go on the first day after the body left the house.
On the first day, those making enquiry should leave the house before the karma is started for the body. If they cannot leave before karma starts , they should leave the place only after the karmas are finished and the body leaves to the cremation ground. One should not leave the place in the middle.
Those who proceed to the cremation ground on the first day should remain there, till the karmas are finished. Some custom suggests that people should also visit the next day for sanchayanam. People who visits the the house of the deceased for condolences should to the extent possible not come in close contact with those of the house avoid bodily contact.
Friends and relatives except close relatives who are visiting the house for condolence should not consume any food or drink in the first ten days. even though it is brought from outside and outsiders are serving you. Those who don't follow these restrictions may not derive the full benefit of their pujas,japams, homas etc;
After making condolences and before entering one's own house ,the person should bathe head to toe in the rear of the house or in the river or pond. In addition the person should again wet his feet before entering the house.
When one travels to another town or city for condolences, he/she should first to go to friend or relative's house , then visit the house of the deceased for condolence. After the visit, he/she must return to the friend/ relative's house again, have a bath and then return to the dwelling place.
If one happens to go directly to the deceased's house for condolence , then he/she must not visit any house on his return but straight return to the dwelling house. Our maharishis with their foresight and considering the welfare of the people have shown restrictions, they are bound to derive the maximum benefit of the good deeds one does in his/her life time.

The expired person belongs to one suthram , and the kartha belongs to another soothram. and this kartha has to do karma samskaram now the kartha has to do as per the expired persons soothram upto varushabhdeekam and then form varusha aabhdeekam the kartha can do by his own soothram.
But for yajur vedhis they can also do as per bhodhaayana sooktham.and if available he can do with his soothra manthras also at any time.
Cremation was done to the dead body.by some other person with manthras.and also had done sanjayanam the next day properly with manthras. son is coming on or before tenth day ; he can do pindothagam etc. for all the ten days. For those who met their death by accident ,suicide. poison drinking,murdered , do praayachitham first and then do all karmas.
For cremation done without proper manthras then the son must prepare with help of purasa leaf of dhabhai grass one purusha doll and with proper manthras hr must burn it and do sanjayanam and all other karmas.
For male or female if death occures before 3 months only it must be burried. From 24th month upto upanayanam eakarcha vidhi dahanam.
from 25th month to 36th month there is thilothagam and pinda dhanam is there.
From 37th month to 48th month thilodhagam,pinda dhanam and narayana bali should be done.
From 49th month to 60th month without manthram asthi sanjayanam.
From 61st month to 84th month without manthram nagnam, navasratham,eakothra vrithi, vrushothsarjanam, aadhyam.
From 85th month to 90th month all nthe above and also shodasam.
FRom 91st month all with manthras and also bashana sthapanam.
From upanayanam upto 12 year age all with manthras except sapindikaranam.
For married persons sapindikaranam must be done.
from the age of four for un upanayanam male unmarried female age no bar only narayana bali must be done, no sapindikaranam; no sratham.
KARTHRU KRAMAMS; Persons who can do Pithru Karmas.
(1) Eldest son (puthran) If there are twins the person born second is the eldest. If there are sons through each of his several wives the one who is the eldest is the eldest son. If after taking a boy on adoption, a son is born the biological son is the eldest.
(2) Grand son The son of the deceased person's son.(pouthras)
(3) Prapouthras= The sons of Pouthras.
(4) DATHAN= the son who has been adopted. and the son who has been given for adoption. ( the person does the karma for his own biological father)
(5) The sons of the datthans.
(6) DANAHARI DAUHITRA=The son of the daughter who will be getting the properties of the deceased.
(7) DHANA GRAHANA ABHAVEPI= Even if no properties are got by a daughter , that daughter's son.
(8) PATHNEE= The wife who had married him as per proceeders. For women : If the deceased is a female member and if there are no karthas ae per items as above from 1 to 7 . Husband= The person who has married her as per proceedures laid out in the scriptures; Sapathni puthra:-The son of the second or another wife of the husband who has married her.
(9) PUTHRI Daughter of the deceased.
(10) JYESTA BRATHA= THE ELDER BROTHER OF THE DECEASED BORN TO THE SAME MOTHER.
(11) BRATHA= The other brothers of the deceased.
(12) BRATHRU PUTHRA= The sons of his brothers.
(13) PITHRUVYA PUTHRAN= Sons of the deceased's paternal uncles.
(14) PITHRUVYA PUTHRASYA PUTHRAN The son's of the uncle's son s mentioned in (13)
(15) PITHA= The father of the deceased.
(16) MATHA. The mother of the deceased.
(17) SNUSHA= Daughter -in- law; The person whom his son married as per traditional custom.
(18) POUTHRI The daughter of the deceased's son.
(19) DOUHITHRI= The daughter of the deceased d's daughter ( who had been properly married)
(20) POUTHRASYA PATHNI= The wife of the deceased's son's son.
(21) POUTHRASYA PUTHRI= The daughter of the grandson as mentioned above in (
(22) DATHASYA PATHNI= The wife of the adopted son.
(23) BHAGINI= The sister younger or elder born to the same mother.
(24) BHAGINEYA= The son of the sister's who had been properly married.
(25) SAPINDA= The person from the same family (creed) commencing from the deceased 's paternal grandfather till seven generations before.
(26) SAMANODAKA = The person from the same family (paternal side and creed) Whonis an older member commencing from 7th to 14 th generations.
(27) MATHRU SAPINDA= Any one upto seven generations on the mother's side.
(28)MATHRU SAMANODAKA= Any one from the mother's side from 7th to 14 th generations.
(29) SAGOTHRA= Some one belonging to the same gothra (lineage)
(30)SISHYA= The person who has studied or learned vedas sastras from the deceased.
(31) RUTHVIK= Someone from the same gothram who is given dakshinai for the karma. When there are no relatives any brahmin can be asked to do on payment of dakshnai.
(32)BRUTHYA= The person who has worked under the deceased on employment basis.
(33) GURU= The guru who has given manthra deeksha.
(34) ACHARYA=The teacher who has educated the deceased. (35) SAHA ADHYAAYE= The person who studied along with the deceased in the same school.
(36) JAMATHA= The son -in-law The husband of the deceased's daughter who is married in the traditional fashion.
(37) SAKHA= A close friend of the deceased.
(38)DANAHAAREE= The person who is getting the properties of the deceased. Any person given a share of the properties can be asked to do the apara karyams.
Hence those who have no son or daughter should determine beforehand , as per the order listed above , the persons(karthas) who should perform the karma after his death.
It is important that one should determine the person who will do the karma as their heir apparent . by transfering his weath and properties to the kartha well in advance and should be known to others also.
There is no restriction. One can make anybody his/her heir.But one must select a person after determining the person's abilities , committment and sincerity for performing aparakarmas and sratha ceremonies every year. that person will be called ABHIMAANA PUTHRAN,
While selecting the kartha the order of precedence should be maintained.and sequentially the elimination should happen before the kartha is selected.
If the kartha is not selected in the above order , the samskarams performed by the kartha is futile and it does not reach the pithrus..
It is the duty of all to make sure that we do the final rites and the subsequent ceremonies to the deceased so that the jeevan attains peace in the heavenly abode.

His immediate younger brother is having full power to do last rites for the person who is not having children. or the younger brother's son is also eligible, in case his younger brother expired before him.
for the persons who is having only one daughter his brother is eligible.His brother's son is also eligible. his- son- in- law is eligible. If his son in law is also having very old mother and he is the only son for his mother he may refuse to do last rights for his father-in-law. because he will not be eligible to do last rites for his mother , if his mother expires with in one year.
The act of expalaining to the son or daughter or other close relatives about the good nature and help rendered by the deceased and give condolences to them is called Enquiring about the grief. When some one dies his/her jeevan will remain for ten days from the day of death at the place where aparakarmas are being performed.

Uthapanaagni--Take three bunches of darbhai; make fire on bunch; from this fire, fire the second bunch; from the second bunch fire , fire the third bunch. this third bunch fire must be used for cremation after due 12 homas.with ghee. This is for those expired as widow or widower.
Prethaagni santhaana prayogam is for those who have expired first father or mother. cremation by aupaasaanaagni.
Shanthi for dhanista panchami dosham if any must be done on 13th day. Ghee nireekshanam and dhaanam.
Now a days in electrical cremation nothing can be done. You should not cremate the dead body after 10 PM.
kartha and his wife must strictly follow these rules. daily for 12 days one meals and tiffin at night.brahmacharyam. should not sleep in cot lying down on the floor with pillow and bedshee or paai. should not take food in other places.
If thr kartha is not well he may take a spoonful of ganges water and prokshanam on his head and body.with ganges water is enough. Even another pollution comes during this ten days period he can do all the karmas. upto 11th day karmas. and after the new pollution is over he can do the rest karmas on an auspicious day.
Suppose you donot the expired month do it in aadi month or in maasi month, suppose you do not know the thithi do it on amavasai day.or on krishna patcha ekadasi day. or the date and thithi on which you are getting the expired news. now a days all are having cell phones and the news will go to all immediately. as this was written on those days they have given alternatives.
Dukkam vijaarika: do not go on odd days. on even days except monday; wednesday and saturday you may go. on first day you can go if the dead body is there in the house. after removal of the dead body you should not go on first day. tenth day as this the last day you can go, no formalities. even the tenth day is monday or wednesday or saturday you can go. If you are also under pollution you should not go. you can go only after your pollution is over.
Do not start apara karyam during gulugan period. Always do snsaanam; aachamanam; namaskaram; pranayamam in upavethi state. Kartha can apply vibhuthi in powder form in his forehead while doing sandhyavandhanam without adding water. while doing karma the kartha should not have vibuthi in his forehead.
Always never apply vibhuthi paste above gobi chandanam. Apply kumkumam on the dead body of a sumangali. Apply vibhthi paste on the dead body of widow or widower.
Paadai (aasanthi) : for this 2 bamboo sticks of 9 feet length. (pachai moongil) Pachai keerru 2; kurukku kombu 12; kappani kayaru 2 mudi. nel pori 100 gram; ghee 200 gram; gingilly seeds (ellu) 50 gram; camphor 4 katti; match box 1 no; betel 12; betel nut 6; fruit banana 2; flower 1 metre; white mull cloth without border 2 metre.
for sumangalis 1.5 metre red cloth and 0.5 metre white cloth. vratti 8; wooden scraps sulli 12 thundu; athi leaf i bunch; medium size mud pot;1; mud plate big2; small 4; 2 old towel are the requirements.
If the eldest son lives in foreign country and the youngest son is near his parents then the youngest son can do karna manthram uthgranthi cow dhanam and other charity and he can burn the dead body . If the eldest son cannot arrive on the second day also the second son can do sanjayanam.
If the eldest son can come only on the 10th day the second son can do all the apara karyams on the specified timings. The eldest son can do on the tenth day 30 vaasodhakam and 75 udhaga dhaanam.
If the youngest son is not able to come on the first day he can come on any other possible day and join with his elder brother after doing thilothagam and vasodhagam for the days he was absent .
Now a days as cell phone is there news about death will reach all within minutes.
If the daayaathi persons are not able to come to the death place they may do on their place after aavaahanam in dharbai 30 vaasodhakam and 75 udhaga dhaanam.First day haircutting (shaving) only for kartha . On the 10th day shaving all the body for the kartha and his brothers, starting from youngest in order. daayaadhikarar shaving is also there on the 10th day if the demised person is older than the daayaadhikar.
If the person expires before 1-30 AM. you are taking into account as previous day's death. If the person expires after 1-30 AM. you are treating that as next day.
some group are saying before suryodhayam previous day. After suryodhayam this day. Sratha thithi is the thithi on which thithi the person expires.
Uthgranthi: during the time prana is going out. ANAAHITHAAGNI; one who is doing regularly only aupaasanam.
AAHITHAAGNI; Doing regularly agni hothra along with the karma aadhaanam. PRAASNAM drinking water or food through mouth.
VRUSHOTHSARJANAM; Pooja for ox as rudhra devan and leave it to go elsewhere as it please.
PARISTHARANAM; spread dharbai grass on the four sides of the homa kundam.
DHARVEE; purasa elai or wooden spoon
DHARVEE; purasa elai or wooden spoon used for to do homam;
PROKSHANI; Water which got the power for prokshanam (drizzling water to all through mango leaves)
AAYAAMADHAM; 6'' length dharbhai with a knot in the upper centre.
SAADHANAM SEIDHA PAATHRAM; As prescribed in the soothrass kinnam for ghee and for water are placed abobe dharbai grass.
DHANISHTA PANCHAGAM; Stars Avittam; sadhayam; pooratahdhi; Uthrathadhi;revathy.If death occurs in these nakshathras parihaaram on first day and shanthi on 13th day should be done.
Do not take any food or drinks in the place where stone was burried under sand for doing vaasodhagam and Thilodhagam.
If the tenth day falls on Friday only kartha can have shaving. other dhaayaathis must have their shaving on 9th day or on 11th day.
Persons who are coming on the 10th day who are having no pollution( for dukkam vijarikka) should not take food in the death place house.
Persons who had touched the dead body to carry it must change their poonal . and not for the followers. Friends who followed the corpse must do shiva dharsanam and give grass for cows .
If the person expired before sunrise or sunset and you are doing karma after sunrise or sunset you must do puryushitha praayaschitham.
UTHGRAANTHI COW DHAANAM; sankalpam . this can be done during the time prana goes or immediately after death within three hours, There is no use of giving cow 3 hours after death.
Everything should be done only after taking bath. with single wet dhoty. sankalpam with single dharbhai pavithram first permission to do samskaaram with dhakshina; prajapathya krichra dakshina; praachinaaveethi cleaning the place where you are going to make agni; then wash your hands and do prokshanam on the floor with hands on upward down position.
Here you have to put the vessels in south side and dharbhai nuni edges facing south. pariseshanam in appradhakshinam method. starting from south east and ending in southeast.
12 times ghee homam having brahma in your mind without any manthram.aupaasana vischinnaaagni homam prayaschitham krichra dhaanam.
Then aupaasanam. Then permission for uthapanaagni ;lsangalpam; dhakshinai; then ghee homam; Then praayaschitha homam for dhakshinaayanam death; krishna patcha death parihaara homam if there is ; midnight death praayaschitham if any; praayaschitham for death during menses period if any for ladies; for death during delivery ; then puryushitham shava praayaschitham.
Prepare pancha kavyam chant pavamana sooktham then prokshanam on the dead body and also with punyaahaavachana water and dharbhai water. Then homam with gingilly seeds ; then homam with pancha kavyam if the death occured during Dhanista panchami; make five koorcham with dharbhai and then do aavaahanam and then pooja with sandal powder and flowers;
Place these koorchams before cremation on the forehead; on the eyes; leftside stomach; and on the navel and last on the legs of the dead body.
then apply ghee above these koorchams; then pour some water on the koorchams; Then permission to cremate; dhakshinai; Then thithi vaara dhosha parihaara dhakshina;
Spread dharbhai nuni facing south and place the dead body with the head facing south. then prepare for homam and do homam for the dead body. tie one kappani kaire on the dead body on one end and the other end must be tied on the hand of the kartha while doing homam.
During this period nobody should go in between the dead body and the homa kundam. nobody should over ride the kappani kaire. After the homam is over remove the kappani kaire.
Daughters of the dead person after having bath with wet cloth (9 yards) give a bath to the dead body and apply vibhuthi paste n the forehead. If the dead person is male daughters are requesting their husbands to give bath for the dead body.
AASanthiyil (Paadayil) spread dharbha grass with nuni facing south and put the dead body with head facing south. Athikattai is preferable to make paadai. if it is not available use green bamboo; green coconut leaves with stem, sandalwood piece and deer skin are required.
tie the dead body so that it should not move or turn to other side while lifting and carrying the dead body to the cremation ground. The face of the dead body should face the cremation ground. or south direction.
If the dead body is sumangali red or yellow color cloth will be covered all over the body; this cloth should be without border. for others white cloth without border will be used.
Then remove the old used cloth worned by the dead body. the son must use this cloth used by the dead person .
some group of people are giving 2 dharbhas for the persons who are taking the dead body. while carrying the paadai to the cremation ground persons who carrying the dead body must have their poonal in niveethi position ( like maalai)
Ghee fire (nei pandham) to the grandsons must be prepared and given. While going on the road towards smashanam chant mahadeva.
First the kartha must go silently with fire pot . Nobody should go in between the kartha and dead body. In back all daayaathis and friends and relatives must go. do not go on sides of the dead body. In the cremation ground place three dharbhams in one place and put the corpse facing south. in
in the south direction place the fire pot. and in the south east direction dig the mud with the help of a stone and place the charu there.
First go anticlock wise first the youngest and lastly the kartha by striking by your right hand in the right upper leg also with spreading your dhoty by your left hand for three times starting from the face. Then by sriking your left upper leg with your left hand without spreading your dhoty with right hand do three times pradhakshinam.including charu only for this time.
Then kartha only must go and apply ellu with water on the digged mud place. then along with athi bunch place the charu (havis) one third of charu from north to south direction, with manthras, pithru theertham method. pour ellu water over this. then use the athi bunch to gather the charu.
Then place the dead body and agni in the western direction then all do pradhakshina and appradhakshinam for three times by striking with left hand in the left thigh; Then the kartha places ellu water and charu as before then again place the dead body in western direction along with agni pot strike with your left hand in left thigh for 3 times pradhakshinam and apprakshinam. then again kartha only place ellu water and charu and gather them with athi bunch.
Then break that mud pot into pieces. Then place the dead body in the western direction of the cremation place and the place the agni pot in the eastern side and then all must go in the northern direction at least 2 meters in length.
Then kartha comes to the cremation place and by using palasa bunch clean the cremation place and throw it away. then by using dharbhai or samithu dig the place and throw it away in south west direction. Wash your hands. pour water on that place. In the centre place of the cremation place drop ghee one drop and then place 3 dharbhams facing south . then place over it athi kattai or palasa kattai or sandalwood.
Place the agni in the eastern direction. use athi leaves and mud agal 2; spread in between agni and corpse.some dharbhai do samskarams. clean the right and then left palms of the dead body with the help of gold piece with manthrams. ( bodhayanar says for ladies without manthram)
Now a days one rupee coins are used. Then place gold pieces in the following 7 places. now a days we are placing Ghee drops instead of gold pieces. 1. mouth; 2 right eye; 3 left eye; 4 right ear; 5 left ear; 6 right nose; 7 left nose.
Then place ellu mixed with raw rice on the mouth of the dead body. in pithru karyam method. Persons living with father will not do this vaaikarisi lastly kartha should place ellu rice in the mouth of the dead body. Then the kartha must take all agni in the mud pot by facing west must say manthras and then place the agni on the chest or near chest. Then throw away the agni mut pot in the south direction to make them into pieces.
Then kartha must come near the leg portion facing south must chant manthras. Then move to west side of the agni facing east do appradakshina pariseshanam and then do homam then place the homa karandi on the agni then do pariseshnam anticlockwise.
then go to the western side of the cremation place sit down on darbhai grass facing east chant manthras.
Then go still further in west dig 3 vaaikaal ending in north direction pour water on this 3 sombuwater and then from youngsters to elders all must place thier feet on this water and come.chant manthras while coming. place some branches of trees in this west side of the digged place one first on norrth and the other on the south. use dharbha grass as thoranam from noth to south.
Lastly the kartha must come out and he has to remove this thoranam and the branches of tree. and throw it away in the backside. Then all must go to take bath .take bath facing south and then sit down in the river shore and then take bath facing soth. do 3 times like this. now a days in cities it is impossible. pay cash to the corpse carriers.
Then Brahmathandam= poori dakshina giving. Then permission for shaving; shaving then snaanam then after washing your legs in the front of your house you must go into the house.
To remove the doshas happened during death time and cremation time of thithi, vaara,yoga,karana, nakshathram and lagnam poori dakshinai is being given.
After having finished your daughter's or son's marriage nichayadhartham you should not go for dukkam vijaarikka. you must inform them that only after poonal or marriage is over you can go there. Infom them through somebody
. Some group of people will take neem leaves and ghee before entering the house after cremation. sampradhayam.
In the house in the place where the person expired will be washed with water mixed with cow dung and on that place arugan grass and raw rice drenched with water will be sprinkled. another sampradhayam for some group of people. They will put a mud pot filled with water on the expired place for ten days above paady spread over there. For ten days that pot should not be broken or the water should not be lessened.
Suddhi punyahavachanam will be done there by another sastrigal and that water will be sprinkled there.
Then nagna sradham to reduce the agni heat to the praytham. dhaanam of dhothy rice, water in sombu;ellu;black gram,salt; vegetables and dhakshinai should be given to sastrigal.
Then udhaga dhaanam. Udhaga dhaanam should not be done after 9-30 PM. you can start from next day. Use the same vasthram (which you are wearing )for this ten days. Ellu dharbhai,new vasthram for vaasodhakam,, mudpot,brass sombu,pancha pathra uthurini are required now for kal oonal .
dig a pit for kal oonal. take a bath with wet single dhothy with upaveethy aachamanam and praacheena veedhi bring water in sombu and go to the kal oonal place. permission, sankalpam. dakshina for thithi vaara, star dhosha nivrithy. then facing south take a small stone remove a nool from the vasthram and tie it in the stone along with durbhai. put the stone in the pit and do aavaahanam of the praytham.
YUdhagadhaana sankalpam; dosha nivrithy dhaanam; From youngest to eldest order each must give facing south vaasodhagam and thilodhagam. Use the new cloth with three folds along with dharbhai one give vasodhagam. chant manthras 3 times . Each time via pithru theertham way sqeeze the new cloth . then put the dharbhai in that pit and keep the cloth safely . then thilodhagam. with manthras.
Then in the house left side dig a pit take a small stone tie it with a nool and dharbhai and put it in the pit. Do aavaahanam with ellu. do vaasodhagam here also 3 times only by kartha , Then Pinda dhaanam. along with pindam ghee, curd, honey are required daily for ten days.
For navasratham on alternate days rice green gram and monthan kaai are required .to suffice for one person per day.
After vaasodhagam in the house kundam put a kolam in three stripes.strike the dharbham on the floor and throw away. wash the hand. do prokshanam with water. take the vaasodhaka cloth fold it in two folds and place it on the floor nuni facing south. pour ellu water on that with manthras . then chant manthras to put the big pindam and south to that place tha small pindam.
pour ellu water on the pindam then pour honey, curd. ghee above them with manthras . facing south chant manthras in standing posture. put some ellu water on the pot in which pindam was prepared chant manthras turn it anti clockwise above the pindam and then place the pot upside down in south and pour water on the pot and turn the pot.and place the pot in the east.
pack the pindam in the cloth to put them in water. Then do sankalpam for aekothra vrithi sratham then give required rice, green gram, and monthan kaai for three persons with dhakshinai. for second day for four sastrigals; third day for 5 persons,4th day for 6 persons;5th day for 7 persons,6th day for 8 persons; 7th day 9 persons; 8th day 10 persons; 9th day 11 persons; 10th day for 12 persons with dakshinai.
Then do sankalpam for navasratham. In the graha kundam place a mud pot with a small hole and pour water in it. and place it above the kundam. water should come from this pot drop by drop all the 24 hours for these ten days. pour water on the mud pot when ever required. place one tender coconut daily near this graha kundam. another sampradhaayam pouring tender coconut on graha kundam daily.
place water and milk in separate pots near this graha kundam daily. throw the big and small pindam in the water daily. some persons sampradhaayam big pindam in water and small pindam for crows.
Standing in the river facing south throw the pindams over your head on your backside remove pavithram do aachamanam upaveedham have a bath cleanly wash the cloth and proceed to house after having washed your feet with water in the vaasal go inside the house wear dry cloth.
In thadaaga kundam from the second day increse the thilodhagam nos. pavithram with single dharbhai, single wet dhothy, . upaveethi sangalpam prachinaveethi krichra pradhinithi dhanam; dhakshinai. and vasodhakam and thilothagam should be done from youngers to elders also dhaayathis.
If possible dhaayaathis can do daily in the thadaaga kundam. if dhaayaathis cannot do daily without fail they can do on tenth day tottally.
vasodhagam daily three times . thilothagam first day 3 times; 2nd day 4times.3rd day 5 times;4th day 6 times,5th day 7 times. 6th day 8 times.7th day 9 times ;8th day 10 times; 9th day 11 times; 10th day 12 times; total 75 times for these ten days.
First day shaving for all sons of the deceased. For birth, death and for ladies menses period divide the night time equaly in three parts. First two parts belong to the previous day. third part goes to the next day.
Only for parents brahmachari, son is having theetu (seethagam) pollution , kuli tharpanam shaving are there. for other dhayathi deaths no kuli tharpanam, shaving and theetu for brahmacharis.
for kartha's whohad not upanayanam yet, they have to follow as per brahmachari from 1st day to tenth day. without upanayanam after 3 years of age and for adopted children this rule applies.
kal oonruvathu only one stone. here sampradhayam differs. 3 stones are taken for kal onnruthal. ask your sastrigal about that Brahmachari can do karma only to his parents,to his elder brother, to his maternal and paternal parents. For others bahmachari should not do karma.
after vrushothsarjanamstart doing nava sratham on 11th day. If it occurs amavasai or maadha pirappu. during this 10 days udhaga dhanam and pinda dhanam should be finished on that amavasai new moon or sangaramanan day for others. for parents you can do as usual. Prabhudha bali and bhashana udhapanam on 10th day.aekothra vrithi sratham must be finished on newmoon day or sangramanam day. navasratham must be done as usual.
For anathai samskaaram the person whoose father expired can do first shaving and then udhaga dhaanam.

PRAAYASCHITHAM: If one person expires on tuesday,thursday;friday; give charity as per that graham.
Give krichra dhaanam for getting permission to do karma.
cremation must be done within 10 hours from the expired time. If it is not possible do krichea dhaanam, prokshanam by panchakavyam chant paavana manthrams, and then give a bath to the dead body.
Give krichra dhaanam for death during dhakshinaayanam, krishna paksham, mid night, vomiting, urinating,purging, menses, and parihaara homam.
The kartha who had not had upanayanam can do karma for his father or mother can do without chanting manthras.
Wife has to do karma for her husband during her period time or immediately after delivery without chanting manthras the dead body can be burnt and after pollution is over she has to do praajaapathya krichram and then manthra poorva cremation and other things should be done.
Praajaapathya krichram= ten thousand gayathri japam, =200 pranayamam.
PRAYTHA KRIYAYGAL. For all karmas upaveethi must be observd for aachamanam, snaanam, pranayamam; pradhakshinam; namaskaram.
Gothram and name must be chanted during aavaahanam;argyam;sangalpam;pinda pradhanam;thilodhagam;aasanam; paadhyam.
Clean the place in the cremaqtion ground with vanni tree branches thrice with apaethavitha manthram. Cover the dead body and its face witha cloth ant the portion of the leg side of the cloth must come out for one foot length/
Do not cremate the dead body without cloth . half of the cloth covered should br removed and throw it away.
In the order from younger to elder should do for for taking bath, udhago dhanam. while going to cremation ground the youngest must go first,and while coming back to home the eldest must come first, same for dhaayaathees also.
After shaving take a bath and do nagna prachadhana sratham.and then do outer bhashana sthapanam do vasodhagam and thilodhagam and in the sit out of your house do griha bhashana kundam sthapanam and do vasodhagam and then give pindam and bali for the praytham
The size of the pindam must be in the size of lemon.This pindam must be done near griha kundam withe help of brass pot and charcoal stove by the daughter, or daughter in law of the deceased.or by kartha for ten days in the same place, same pot,pindam must be placed in the same for these ten days.
Nava sratham on odd days. should be done. if due to unavoidable circumstances if you cannot do you must do that on 11th day.along with 11th day nava sratham.
For all kartha and dhaayaathees only one time meals for these ten days.On the cremation day you should not prepare meals on that house and also you should not take food in that house.

All the world is under the control of one deivam; this deivam is under the control of mantras; this mantras are under the control of brahmins; Lord krishna says that this brahmin is my deivam. Sins done by children goes to their parents; sins done by wife goes to the husband. sins done by husband will never go to his wife.
dhanams should be done during the prana leaves the body; cow with calf; agri land; gold gingilly seeds; lamp and brass vessel with water are the dhanam articles.
Karna manthram = prana,apana,vyana,udana,samana are the five; skin; eyes;ears; tongue;nose are the five gnanaendriyangal; vaak; hands and feet and anus and kuyyam are the five karmendriangal; and mind;chitham and budhi and ahankaaram are the four these 19 are working as sookshama sareeram;
At the time of prana leaving the body spread some dharbai on the floor with dharbai nuni facing south and place that person on the darbai with the head facing south; apply vibuthi on the forehead; give some ganges water in the mouth; place some thulasi leaves on his/her mouth and on the ears.
lit a lamp facing south. chant rama; krishna; govinda nama sangeerthanam if possible upanishath paaraayanam may be done.rudraksham and gopi chandanam may be plaed on his/her body.
The body must be burnt within 10 hours. after 10 hours the body is old one ,and you have to do praayaschitham before giving this body as' havis' to agni bagwan.
DUKKam vijarikka= On the first day before the dead body leaves the house and on the tenth day you can go. on monday, wednesday and saturday you should not go even after the tenth day;you can go on even days except these three days; you should not go on odd days.you should not take food or water coffee etc.
Apara karyangal should not be started in kuligai kaalam. Always do aachamanm; praanayaamam; namaskaram and snananm in upaveethi position. kartha can apply vibuthi on his forehead as dry powder without adding water on all these days. except while doing karma.
If death occurs on dhanista panchaka days that is on Avittam,sadayam,pooratadhi;uthiratadhi and revathy star days special dosha pariharam should be done on the 13th day.
KRICHARA LAKSHANAM= Manu=first three days morning meals only; next 3 days night meals only; next three days without begging if available only one time meals; last 3 days only upavasam. total 12 days. this is called praajaapathya krichram.
Paadha krichram yaagyavalkiyar= one day only one moning meals. next day only one night meals; next dasy if available without begging only one meals ; fourth day fasting.
Half kricharam = one day morning meals; next day night meals; next two days if available one time meals; and last 2 days fasting; total 6 days.
Athi kricharam= paraasarar= three days morning; 3 days night; three days if available and three days fasting; total 12 days. here you have to take only one hand full of food per day.
kricharathikricharam Bodhayanar= 3 days morning only drinking water ; next three nights only drinking water and next three days if available and next 3 days fasting. total 12 days; Yaagyavalkiar says only milk drinking for 21 days.
dapta kricharam =hot water; hot milk and hot ghee for 9 days and 3 days fasting;
Saanthapana krichram= cow's milk; cow's curd;cow's ghee; cow's urine; cow's dung ; dharbai water one for each day and in the 7th day fasting.
Like this so many krichrams are there. If you take snaanam in cauvery like punyah rivers it is equivalent to aptha kricharam; If you give some money to 10 brahmins who took bath in river cauvery you are getting aptha krichra phalan; In this way cauvery snaanam dakshinai has formed.
Uthgranthi cow dhanam should be done during the prana leaves the body,or ,within 3 hours after prana left the body. Sarva prayaschitham can also be done within this 3 hours.
close the poojah almehra and or pooja room, take minimum daily requirement of clothes from the ward robe and close them.
karna manthra m should be chanted on the right ear of the dead body or on the anthima kaala person by his son after placing the head on his right thigh.
No pollution=sethagam=theetu for 90 minutes from the death time. only after 3 hours the dead body should be burnt. No dhosham if the person recovered after praayachitham is done. Pollution will start only after finishing the karna manthras,
After takiing bath with drenched wet cloths carry water in a brass kudam and pour the water from leg to head to the dead body; By doing like this you qre finishing in the south direction which should be done only at this time. dry the body with a towel wear the new gaada cloth and mark on the forehead vibuthi mixed with water. on other times you should not mark in the lying in position.everything should be done
anti clockwise. For sumangalies kumkumam should be applied on the forehead and for widows and for males viboothi should be used.
cut a small piece from this new gaada cloth and use it for ten days for vaasodhakam. nommanthram for pariseshanam now. make pavithram from only one dharbai for this purpose. for deva karyams make one pavithram from 2 dharbai, and for sratham make one pavithram from 3 dharbai.
kartha must wear only one dhothy without angavasthram for these ten days karyams. one long rope should be tied wiith the dead body on one end and by touching the other end of the rope homam should be done to yama. during this time nobody should go over the rope.
send black ellu (gingilly seeds) raw rice; half boiled cooked rice; ghee; dharbai; aththi bunch;sand, mud plates and mud ahal to the cremation ground.
only kartha should go in front of the dead body with fire pot and in back all the relatives ; donot go in the sides of the dead body.
Like colleges raking is also here for the newly departed souls. for which you are giving half boiled rice into the mouth for 3 times in
three places.
Yajur vedha aapasthamba sutram apara karyam continues;Anthyeshti;
Dead child coming from uterus should be burried. no samskaarams. upto and end of 24 months if the baby expired it should be burried. no samskaarams. from third year upto upanayanam if the boy expired cremation in fire. Ekaarcha vidhi samskaram;and also for girls before marriage. for boys after upanayanam expired paithru medhika samskaram. for girls after marriage expired paithru medhika samskaram.
You can do Brahma medha samskaram for the expired person if the person had vedha adhyaayanam and had anushtaanam daily and with acharya sthaanam. For ladies there is no Brahma medha samskaram. If you do paithrumedhika samskaram in the prescribed maaner the dead person in his rebirth will get good rebirth or no rebirth according to his sins and punyah. The dead person will get brahma saayujyam if you do brahma medha samskaram .
Sins done by wife will go to her husband. husband's sin will never go to his wife. punyah done husband 50% will go to his wife. punyah by wife wil never go her husband. Sins done by children will go to their parents.
Sookshma sareeram; 5 vayus;-prana; apana; vyana; udhana; samana; gnaana indriyam :skin;eyes;ears;nose; mouth; Karma indriyam: Vakku;hand;leg;anus;kuyyam; manas;chitham; ahankaaram;budhi; total 19; This total together is called sookshma sareeram.
A person expired at 6 AM in the morning; The dead body must be burnt before 4 Pm. on the same day. After 10 hours the body becomes old one; Then praayaschitham should be done. you are giving to agni as aahudhi the dead body. you should not give old one as ahudhi.

According to yajur vedam and aapasthamba soothram herewith I am giving the details obtained from a sastrigal here. for Varushaapthekam.
In thithi, vaaram. and star the thithi is more powerful. In the same thithi in which the person has expired on that same thithi after one year on the same tamil month and on the same paksham and on the same thithi varushabdheekam must be done. IN vradhaanushtaanam chaandramaana month is preferrable. For sratham sowramaana month is the best one because in chaandramaana month athimaasam is coming very often.
sowra masam is fixed. In sowramana month if the thithi comes in the begining of the month and again one in the end of the month you have to do only in the second thithi provided there is no lunar or solar eclipse or madha sankramanam on the second thithi. In that case you can do in .the first thithi itself. If you do in chaandramaasa vidhi you have to do in the regular month once and in the athi maasam you have to do once again.
There is no srathanga thila tharpanam for masigam, ekothistam,sapindeekaranam, and in varushabhdeekam.
OOna masyam: First after 27th day and before 30th day in odd thithi; Second, After 40th day before 45 th day in odd thithi; Third:After 170th day but before 180th day in one odd thithi; After 340days but before 355 days in one odd thithi ooona aabhdeekam must be done.
After having finished all the sodakumbam and masyam and oona masyam you can do varushabhdeekam. On the previous day of the thithi sodakumbam with one sastrigals must be performed. For this sastrigal you have to give all dhaanams which you are going to give on varushabdeekam day.
On the first year thithi day you have to do sratham with 2 sastrigals and then give dasa dhaanam and silver and gold leaf dhaanam, visiri, umbrella, chappals,salagramam, sivalingam, walking stick, paanagam, neermore, vegetables, fruits, cotton, bed, wool. ,rudhraksham,etc, according to the individual's financial position,
Dasa dhanam, mattai thengai instead of cow; sandalwood piece instead of agri land; gold; silver; 9x5 cotton dhoty; ghee, ellu; salt;jaggary;raw rice. Pancha dhanam : Brass sombu (one litre capacity) with water; book'; Bell; dhoty; deepam; other dhananms, AAsana palagai or thadukku,thaamboolam; container for veebhudhi, Black gram; chanakam= mooku or kothu or sundal kadalai; only to receive these dhanams along with dhakshinai,some 10 or 12 sastrigals will come.
You know what you are going to give as dhanam on this day. So buy the same and give as dhanam to the sodhakumbha sastrigals as dhanam on the sodhakumbam day, Or money instead of these dhanams.
On the next day you have to do navagraha homam, for this 3 sastrigals is enough

Our sastras indicates one can make a guess if the jeevan is benefitted by the karmas by interpreting the dreams one gets.
The Jeevan gets a subtle body structure on the tenth day only. from the 10th day onwards till the 13 th day the kartha or the close blood relatives of the deceased may experiance dreams and thru these dreams one can identify if the karmas are being performed correcly or not.
If one experiance a bad dream or some untoward incidences happen in the home then the one can infer that there are some blemishes in the Karma process. else if one experiances a good dream then one can imagine that the jeevan is blessed and has attained a higher status ./
Some examples of dreams: Kartha's family deserts him; Being arrested and Imprisoned; Being carried away; Snatching away of food while eating;
"A person who sleeps at a particular place in the night will find himself on getting up in the morning at a different place.
One may find items like 'hair threads' in the food being eaten. such bad dreams/ untoward incidences may be experianced. These are called the mischief of the Pretha.
Further the kartha or the closed relatives may experiance hunger beyond normal levels/and also extreme thirst/. This shows deficiecy in vasodhakam, pinda offerings made.
A person performed the karmas without proper devotion and faith, he will experiance a dream where the deceased appear before him and asking him i am hungry and thirsty give me food and water.
If the Karmas have been done correcly the dreams will appear like the following: Trees carrying plenty of riped fruits; Devas or their vahanas like bull; garudan eagle; peacock and married woman; The kartha undertaking a pilgrimage.During that year the son or daughter of the deceased will get married or other holy occurances.
These are the indications for the proper performance of the karma and there by the jeevan obtained a good status i the Astral Plane.

on the tenth day all the karthas and pangaalis must wear dharbhai mala for some time and the sastrigal used to say to remove it. On the eleventh day the house will adorned with cow's dung on those days. In the second part of the day time do punyahavachanam,prokshanam. do nava sratham; Then do vrashabothsarjanam : permission. sangalpam;
If you are not ableto do vrashabothsarjanam on 11th day you may do on 12th; 23rd or before 27th day oona masyam. or you can give rice and money for eleven sastrigals on 11th day.
charity for thithi vaara yoga star dosha nivrithyartham. you must do homam in the cattle yard, brahma aavaahanam;in north to agni place a water pot over rice and place rudhra prathimai and do rudhra aavaahanam.do in normal proceedure havis homam with manthras.swastakrith; jayathi, praayaschitha homam,anaagyathi homam; upasthaanam; then bring the bull do pooja for the bull and chant rudhram 11 times or atleast one time.
chant laaja manthram while the bull have three times pradhakshinam in the homagni . water with ellu must be given to the bull for drinking by chanting rucham brahmi anuvaaham; apply lingam or sangu kolam on the leg of the bull with turmeric powder. or you can draw any weapon of the god which you like most.
Chant the manthras on the right ear of the bull.then chant manthras in the left ear. then allow the bull to go to the cattle yard. chant manthras.prarthana to bull and allow it to go anywhere as it likes.then bali to rudhran. then dasa and pancha dhaanam.
This is a holy karma performed for seeking the blessings of sri rudhra or parameshwara.vrishabam means bull or bull calf. uthsarjanam means leaving something out. A bull coloured blue,red,or black along with calf or calf alone is subjected to a pooja and left out for roaming independently. After the karma it is the custom to donate the bull or calf to a temple nearby.
Dharma sastras says that by performing the karma of vrishaba uthsarjanam the deceased will get relief from the sins on account of actions in their life like gohathi and brahmahathi. In addition theyn will get a better and higher status in the celestal world.
vrishaba uthsarjanam is of two kinds. 'neimithikam' and 'kamyam' . neimithikam is done on the 11th day. This is done between 8-24 am to 10-48 am in sanghra kala. this 11th day is based on cremation day as the first day. and not by treating the day of death.
Kamya vrishaba uthsarjanam is done during one's own life time for seeking the blessings of parameshwara and to get swarga loka for himself. This is done on kaarthigai full moon day; or aipasi or vaikasi full moon day. during midday between 10-48 to 1-12 pm after having finished naandhi sratham in the morning on that day.
Dharmasastras say that this kamya vrishaba uthsarjanam will get one the blessings of devas, maharishis and fore fathers. A bull calf with a red body, white on the face,tail,leg,heels,and horns is called a blue calf. It should be one or two years old. By doing aavaahanam of sri rudhran on this bull conducting a pooja on it, and allow it to wander freely is called kamya vrishba uthsarjanam.
on the eleventh day after vrishaba uthsarjanam first month massikam should be done. this is also called aadhya masikam. Masikams are the karmas done every month for one full year on the ''thithi'' of the day of death. when this fiest masikam is performed, as the deceased has still not reached the stage of pithruthwam he is still considered as a prethasswaroopi.
As the person (brahmin) who takes part and eats food in this masyam will get more dosham to a large extent and it is difficult to find a person for this. As per vedha vaakyam all devas and pithrus remain a part 'agni' the agni bagavan himself is treated as a brahmin for eating the food, of the aadhya masikam. 32 handfull of rice should be put on homam for this purpose, The sastras indicate that one should take only 32 handfull of cooked rice per day.
Here only the dead person is called for aavaahanam without viswedevar and other pithrus this is called ekodhistam or eka homam.
Further to this aadhya masika sratha is again done on the same day with another brahmin . This is called aavrutha aadhya masikam. ( repeat first masikam). Since this is the first sratha done for the deceased with homam it should be done with devotion and sincereity.
further the food items must be prepared by the blood relatives only. rather than others. For the guest in the kartha's house food can be prepared by others and served.
In the ekothita sratham prepare two agnis. homa agni in north. to the right side of this pinda prathaana medai. to the right side brahmin sthanathil prathista agni.. think that this is pitha facing west. to the west of this aasanam, paadhyam, argyam,aachamanam; thilothagam etc. should be given there.
praachinavithi, first start with brahmana sthana agni and do prathistai; Imagine that agni as west faced pretha roopa pitha, give aasanam, krisaram. thamboolam. oil to take oil bath; snanam;aachamanam; anugai; aasanam; sangalpam; varanam; agni prathistai; paristharanam. north to agni havis paathra sadanam, prokshani samskaraml south argya grahanam. aavahanam; padha prakshalanam; varanam; argya saadhanam; vasthra upacharam;agni pariseshnam; ahha homam; punar parishechanam; brahmana bojanam; thruthi prasnam; thilothga dhaanam; dakshina dhanam, brahmana visarjanam, pindsa dhanam; snanam; punyaham.
Masi sratha kramam: anugai. no dhoopam/ deepam,no namaha sabdham; no swadha sabtham, sangalpam. thithi vara star yoga karana dosha nivrithi charity,brahmin sthanam to the west of agni; aavaahanam;argyam; in the north of brahmin sthaana agni sopread ellu and place dharbhai facing south. thilothaga paathram vaikkavum.
make one pavithram with one dharbhai and place it facing the nuni to south direction in the ellu water brass sombu. chant manthram while pouring water in the brass sombu, remove pavithram and drop some black till on it. argya prathanam: in the west of brahmin sthaana agni in a brass vessal add some water put the another vessal on it by using uthirini take water from argya paathram and give it to brahmin as argyam.no pariseshanam; pour ellu water on the havis.no namaskaram.
then facing south payasannam mixed with ellu and ghee using pithru theertha murai do homam for 32 times with homa manthram.after this pretha pithaha annampaaneeyam, thrupthosi, amrutha pitha namasi, hastha padha prakshalanam; achamya, pour water near agni. dakshinai; thaamboolam; brahmana visarjanam give one darbai say vaje vaje manthram.
In the south side of homa agni pinda prathanam. then dakshinai; pindam and other cooked rice used for pinda pradhanam should be thrown in the river or sea. Tenth day prabotha bali cooked rice and savary on those days it was given to the barbers. now a days barber shop wala are not taking this. so it must be thrown in the river or in the sea.
Then take a bath and do punyahavachanam.
HAS THE KARMA BEEN DONE PROPERLY? HOW TO KNOW.?What is the corrective act is necessary for a karma not rightly performed?
We may experiance some bad dreams. If a big mistake had been made , it may be necessary to re do the karmas.
Some of the serious faults that one should avoid are:
Change of Kartha during the Karma period.
Change of cooking vessal used for making pinda; Changing the offering place of the Pinda; The partly immersed stones disappearing;
"Unclean" relatives participating in the Karma. In some cases it may warrant to redo the Apara karma.
If minor slips happen then,it will be helpful to have the following corrective measures.
The Kartha himself or thru eloders can get the following evets done in the house of the deceased.
The Kartha himself or thru well experinced vedic pundits can conduct Parayan (recitation) of Sri mad Ramayanam for 9 days in navaham format.
Srimad Bhaghavatham Parayan for 7 days in sapthaham format. with ghatasthaapanam and the Kartha must take bath in the ghatasthapanam water.
Conducting complete vedic recitation in the premises of the deceased within a year.
Taking bath in holy rivers like cauvery, godhavary etc; praying for the good status to the deceased with prescribed sankalpam and giving away donations.
To donate to the needy. Black till or rice mixed with til or fully grown black gram dhall. On the day of the masika day donation of food and or vasthram can be made to the poor after the masika sratham is over.
One can assist in kind and material to domestic help and the people employed by the kartha. The pithru tharpanam on amavasya day and tamil month begining of the month days can be performed under a Bilva tree.
If the above mentioned corrective measures are adopted properly pithru dosham (curse) will get removed and will result in benefits to the family

Nithyavidhi karma has to be started soon after cremation and the stone is placed /held on the ground earth the same day.consequent to this jeevan stays on that place ,eats the food every day, conveys its blessings.
Those who are unable to do so on the day of cremation, the sastras allows one to start the ceremony on odd numbers day; 3rd;5th;7th;9th.and perform all the karmas together with those, due from the first day.
Nithya vidhi has to be done on the banks of a pond or rivercanal well within the limits of that village and/or near the house entrance. This is called thadaaga theera kundam.
In a similar fashion at the sitout or entrance of the kartha's house a tent is erected and the kartha burries 3 small karungal stones. This is called Grahadwarakundam.
This process of performing tharpans and pinda dhaanam at both the places is called Nithyavidhi. According to sastras , the Jeevan's heat due to cremation , hunger and thirst are lessoned.
Duties of sons: perform the karma with absolute commitmrnt and sincereity; fasting when required and uttering the manthras with reverence.The kartha while performing the karma should recall the good deeds of the deceased , control anger against others and sacrificing your personal work; The eldest son must perform the karmas and the younger sons do benefit fully just being there with the eldest son.
Due to circumstances if the eldest son cannot arrive there in time , the next younger son can do the karma.
DUTIES OF THE DAUGHTER. aughters of the deceased should take part in the nithya vidhi by remaining pious and clean. They should prepare the havis (cooked rice) and make it into a ball shape-pindam to be offered daily in thr graha kundam.
Remaining clean means the daughter should bath and with wet clothes drapped around them they should cook the havis. Gas stove should be avoided for preparing this havis. should not use eversilver utensils. use charcoal or fire wood use brass sombu; brass karandy. brass plate to cover this.
Havis preparation should be done near the house kundam tent. Then after the pindam offering is over the aduppu/or kumutty and brass pot,brass karandy and brass plate should be cleaned and kept near the tent. the same pot should be used for ten days.
SMIRITIS says that the jeevan accepts with pleasure only the havis prepared by daughter.. If the deceased have no daughters then the son, daughter -in-law , paternal lineage chithappa or periappa daughter can do this havis.
Daughters will prepare idly dosa and with chutney it will be distributed to the neighbours and relatives on the 7th day. on 13n th day and on tenth day daughters used to prepare aval pori urudai and sweets and it will be distributed to all.
Our human human has been created out by five elements water, fire,air, earth and aakaasam.in different proportions. To experiance hapiness /grief we reqiure body. by through sense organs perceive this happinee or sorrow. When person dies the body gets cremated.but the jeevan which was in the body which is called Soul or Athman or Jeevan has to go to swarga or naraka depending upon good and bad deede performed through the body.
To traverse the jeevan to paralokha requires a body and now a new body is created and through this body the jeevan has to sent to paraloka. Our sastras and maharishis thru their meditative power have elobarated methods on how to create a new body structure for the jeevan to use after its death.
The symbolic body structure is created thru manthras , offering of pindas , vasodhakam and thilothakam done as part of daily samskarams.Gothra of the deceased person must be mentioned. The pinda or rice ball made by the daughter is offered as vehicle to form the virtual body,
Rushyasringa maharishi says on the 10 th day the jeevan gets urge for food and happiness.Some scientists explain Jeevan (energy) is formed with five elements combined in the body. This compared to the bright red colour that is obtained whenbetel;nuts and calcium are chewed in the mouth In similar fashion jeevan energises the five elements to form a body and makes that body to function.
prepare the havis for pindam and add some ghee keep it in northen side . then once agin some ghee now.In the graha kundam place in the southwest place clean the place with cow dung and by having left leg mutty pottu kondu place some dhabhai on the floor facing south and pour some ellu and water with manthras take egg size or bigger than that add ellu and water on the pindam and offer it to the pretha sareeram
Again pour some water and ellu over the pinda for morning and one for evening.Then wash the brass vessal ( used to make havis) with water and pour some ellu and keep the pindas in the brass vessal and go to a river or pond stand facing south throw away the pindam in the river by your backside and have snaanam and come back to house.
On all the 10 days throw the pindas in water in the same place. Keep some old dhoty/saree which were used by the dead person above the tent. Keep one tender coconut daily near the graha kundam; keep water in the graha kundam in a brass vessel; decorate the trnt with coconut flowers and coconut tree leaves pachai keethu.
Buy one mud pot make a hole at the bottom put water on it and place it in the graha kundam in the maner by which drops of water be poured on the graha kundam. on all the ten days. pour water in the mud pot daily in the morning and evening.
THere are songs which in olden days some seventy years ago some old women paid for this to cry in the grahakundam in the evening after lighting a lamp they used to cry by telling some songs.
one lamp in the graha kundam must be there along with oil and thiri for ten days. lamp must burn all the 24 hours on all these ten days. hurricane lamp or brd room lamp must be there,
TENTH DAY: Pangalis= gyathikal may have shaving or whole body shaving and must do with wet clothe and only one cloth and with one dharbhai pavithram 30 vaasodhagam and 75 thilothgam in facing south in the nadhi dheera kundam. If the 10th day falls on friday they can have their shaving on thursday itself. for kartha he must have shaving only on 10th day.
Even 10 days is over they have to do tharpanam and shaving.(pangaalikal) Then kartha should take bath for 3 times and do 3 vasodhakam and 12 thilothagam in the river kundam and in the graha kundam vasodhagam and thilothagam ekothra vridhi sratham and charity praboothabali should be done.
permission for doing prabootha bali and charity for thithi vaara star yoga dosha nivrithiyartham . near graha kundam odd number kolam. spread 2 yards dhoti nuni facing south and spread dharbhai nuni facing south.pour ellu and water on the dhoti and spread saltless savouries and cooked rice .Now pour ellu and water over it .
POur some water with ellu on the vessel pre paed for cooked rice and do parishechanam anti clock wise place the vessal in the south upside down and do prokshanam and place the vessal in normal position and do namaskaram facing south. all family members of that family will put cooked rice in the prabootha bali.

throw the pindam in the river as usual and tear the cloth which was used for thilothagam and vasodhagam throw it away do snaanam Then shanthi homam. reqiurements for shanthi homam: dharbhai; ghee; dhanyam, rice; samithu; brass vessal for homam, homa karandi=maavilanga eleagal; agni; water in a brass xombu, mango leaves kothu, nochi kothu; nochi maalai; use dharbhai if nochi is not available
bricks. neivedhyam and thaamboolam; banana fruits for neivedhyam,upaveethi permission to do shanthi homam; hiranya dhaanam for thithi vaara dosham, put water in a kinnam in the east; place paristharanam with dharbhai; kartha should sit in the west side to agni; for this no pathra sadanam, prokshani samskaram, aajya samskaram,dharvee samskaram.
using maavilanga leaves as homa karandi do homam place one sambadha paathram in the north side. after each aahoodhi ghee from maavilanga leaf should be dropped in the sambhadha pathram.after homam is over place the maavilanga leaves in that agni. do parisheachanam. in the north red ox facing east before starting homam sthaapanam must be done.
ladies and gents must touch this ox. .by chanting manthras all ladies and gents must go in eastern direction along with ox.kartha must go in the last by chanting manthras should remove the leg prints of all by his leg.
then kartha should place a brick in the south side with manthras. then sumangali ladies must pour water on the ground during this time kartha only must chant manthras. Then using that water ladies must wash their faces if no ladies kartha should wash his face with that water. this not for pangaalis.then all must adorn with eyetex on their eyes.by chanting manthras.then kartha must place a branch of a tree in the digged hole by chanting manthras.
Then permission to do aanandha homam with charity for thithi, vaara, star yoga dosham. no pathrasaadhanam.mavilanga leaves.; paristharanam; pariseshanam; homam; place the maavilanga leaves on the agni; then kartha must cook food and the kartha and all the gyaathis must eat it.
Instead of this kartha will place paddy in the agni and all pangaaligal and kartha must take this nel pori. Then punyaha vachanam should be done and pour that water all over the house. 11th day to be continued \ IN the evening pori and appam charity to all. sarama slogam ; sastrigal will deliver a lecture of the deceased in praising manner.

THEETU =UNCLEAN (IMPURITY) Unclean is of two kinds. One unclean state is when a child is born to our relatives. This is called VRIDHI in sanskrit.
The second is when some one dies the''unclean'' state which develop on the relatives. This is called 'KSHAYAM' in sanskrit. . Generally for both it is called aasowcham in sanskrit.
Vridhi means increase and kshayam means decrease. When consulting a priest in case of child birth one should ask ' How many days vridhi is devolved on me and my family and not asowcham is devolved on us.
Our beliefs on the 'unclean' and 'clean 'states are based on the functioning of various microcopic organisms not visible to our eyes. This is akin to the aroma of as flower spreading to the surroundings , even though one cannot see the 'aroma' thru eyes.
Likewise all living beings transmit their aura to their surroundings and this is also confirmed by Ayurveda system of treatment. The 'unclean' state devolving on one person also get spread to others due to body contact, breath,eating together and sleeping together. and similar reasons.
one should not consider these things as superstitions. One should not also seek for scintific proof for all these assertions , but follow with reverance and enjoy the benefits bestowed on us by divine Beings. Process of erecting a stone on the ground: According to Garuda puranam the jeevan does not go to paralokha immediately after death. Till another body is made for the jeevan (10 days) the jeevan stays in this country close to the place of death. Physical body has been cremated this jeevan enter in it.
For making the jeevan stay and remain restful a karma called 'nithya vidhi ' is done daily for ten days. one or three stone (like baby jelly -karungal 1/2 inch in size approximately) along with bllack ellu, dharbai, and sombu (must go to river side on those olden days ) Now a days if there is individual house you may havenear the coconut tree or near compound wall gate.
If no space is there in the flat (own house) you may have it in the sit out or now a days places are available .You can go there daily for doing this for ten days or you can do all on the tenth day. which is not preferrable. Add 2 basket of sand in the sit out or in under the coconut tree you may dig a hole to put this karungal.
Anuggai= permission to get yogyadhai to karungal stapanam=bashana sthaapanam. sankalpam.then Thithi vaara, star, yoga, dosha parihaarartham charity should be given. Then facing south and kall mutty pottu kondu put this 3 smaal karunga tied with dharbhai ( now it is called bhaashaanan sthaapanam ) and chant manthras requsting the preathem to have aavaahanam in this bhaashaanam
Eyes should be closed while placing the bhaashaanam in the digged hole or on sand digged hole. and cover it mud or sand. Then open your eyes . from ypongers to elders order each sons, daayaadhigal water charity should be given to that aavvaahana praetham on the mud.
Garuda puranam is available now a days in all languages .get it from giri traders or from any bookstall whoa re selling this book, This book must be read from the first day till tenth day by each and everyone in that house.

Take one darbai and a piece of new cloth 6 inches in width and 12 inches in length and fold this in three folds. have a bucket full of water. each person must have one sombu and water should be poured to this sombu by sastrigals or person with no theetu. Left leg mutty potu sit down and by chanting manthras dip the darbai and the piece of cloth and pour it to the bhashana kundam. Then pour three times water with ellu three times, and increase *ellu water) by one time more daily.
then come to the house kundam in the sit out pour some sand and make a hole put 3 small karungal tied with darbai chant manthras and with closed eyes put this bhashanam in the hole and cover it with sand andhere only yhe kartha must pour water from sombu with one darbhai and with the new piece of cloth which you have used in another bhaashana gundam;

Valaikaapu is a laukika (Sanskrit for worldly, non-religious) ceremony and celebration held to bless a pregnant woman, celebrate her fertility, and ensure a safe birth. It is hosted by the pregnant woman's mother and father to be home during the third trimester of the pregnancy.
The pregnant woman dresses in a black sari to ward off the evil eye, and is given special, favourite foods, presents and blessings. Hindu women will wear bangles in both the hands in odd numbers. Other beleif is that. The bangle sound induces the child's senses
The women put red and green glass bangles on the mother-to-be’s wrists, sing hymns and songs and put vermilion on her forehead. The woman then rests at her parents' home for the final weeks of her pregnancy. The purpose of the ceremony is to honour and protect the pregnant woman, who is seen as vulnerable to the evil eye, malign spirits and ghosts, and to ensure the birth of a healthy child. The tradition originated in Brahmin and high-caste communities, before being adopted by other groups.

வீபூதியால் யோப்ருஹ்மா என்ற க்ருதசூக்ததால் ( ஆயுஷ்ய ஸூக்தம்)) ரக்ஷை செய்ய வேண்டும், பிறகு ப்ராஹ்மணர்களுக்கும் ஆசார்யருக்கும் தக்ஷிணை தர வேன்டும், . ப்ரதிஸர: என்பது கை—மனிக்கட்டில் உள்ளங்கைக்கு மிக அருகாமையில் அணியப்படுவது. அத்தகையதொரு (நூல்கயிறு) சரடை கங்கணமாக கட்டும் நிகழ்ச்சியே ப்ரதிஸரபந்தம்.. இந்த கங்கணம் அணிந்திருப்பவரை ரக்ஷிப்பதற்காக கட்டுவதால் ரக்ஷை ஆகிறது.ஆதலால் இந்த நிகழ்ச்சிக்கு ரக்ஷா பந்தனம் என்று பெயர்.
