Learned scholars,
Pranams.
We say that the present janma is the result of the karma done in our previous birth. Again, going back, the previous janma is due to the karma of yet another previous birth. It goes on ad infinitum. Then what is the karma for the first birth ? A puzzle of course, but some of our learned members can throw some light on it logically. Thanks
N.R.Ranganathan.

Namaskaram. Sir, at the outset I want to say that,I am no scholar. Kindly pardon me for my audacity in attempting a reply. Sir, when we say cycle of births and deaths, it includes in its ambit, all living things like animals and plants. The ultimate of God's creation is 'man' as far as we know. Similarly, there may be several worlds, created and being in the process of creation by the Creator. When we see the night sky, studded with billions of stars, constellations and galaxies, we can't but assume that this World is not the only one, created by the Almighty. So, where we were in our previous life and what were our karma there, one can't say.
When we talk of karmapalan, it may not be that all his happiness and sorrow will be governed by his actions in the previous birth. While the major portion will be so, some portion will be as a result of what he does good or bad, in the present birth only. Again, whatever portion is left out, it is determined by God Himself, as what we call' Act of God', on which the person has no control. For example, thousands of people dying in floods in Kedarnath. When such things happen, we can't find any nexus between karma and palan, in those thousands of people.
Something, similar happens in respect of a person, who is born as a human being, as a culmination of hierarchical evolutionary process, from other forms of life, with a clean slate, so to say, without any carried forward karmapalan.
There are many scholars, well versed in Vedantha, , among the readers, and I once again seek their pardon and request them to enlighten me on this .
Regards. Raghuraman

Dear Mr.Raghuraman,
Many thanks for your reply. As you have well-said, the scholars might be able to explain it adequately. Let us wait. Regards,
N.R.Ranganathan.

Naasadeeya Sooktam is equally puzzled. Parabrahman wanted to experience the joy of Himself, and the Universe came into being.... Attachments:nAsadeeyasUktam-s.pdf (121.06 KB)
