SRI GURUPYO NAMAHA:,RESPECTS TO SRI MAHA SWAMIGAL,HARI OM.
HARA HARA MAHADEVA, HARA HARA MAHADEVA, HARA HARA MAHADEVA !
Meeting of a rare kind
: While Rama and Krishna are deemed as Poorna avatars, Parasurama's is defined as Avesha avatar — the Supreme Being's prowess and divinity manifesting in Parasurama as anger when he is engaged in the total destruction of the Kshatriya kings. Born to Sage Jamadagni and Renuka, Parasurama gave in to feelings of anger and revenge when his father was killed by Kartaviryarjuna's sons. (This was a retaliation for his killing Kartaviryarjuna who had for his part stolen the divine cow Kamadenu that was in Jamadagni's possession.) He thus became a sworn enemy of Kshatriyas, and with a bow on one shoulder and an axe on the other, he went about annihilating Kshatriya clans.
In a lecture, Sri B. Sundarkumar drew attention to the rare meeting of two Avatars that takes place in the Ramayana when Parasurama challenges Rama. This happened during the return journey of Dasaratha's retinue to Ayodhya after the marriage of Rama and Sita. There was a sudden outburst of a great storm accompanied by severe earthquakes when trees were uprooted, and dark clouds of dust covered the sun's brightness. Sensing evil omens, a worried Dasaratha sought Vasishta's advice. Reading into the portents, the sage assured Dasaratha that though it indicated imminent trouble, it would be resolved satisfactorily.
Parasurama approached them and spoke exclusively to Rama, ignoring all others including Dasaratha's pleas. He told Rama that the divine architect Vishwakarma had originally made two similar bows to be given to Siva and Vishnu. It was Siva's bow that Rama had broken in Janaka's court to win the hand of Sita. The other Vishnu Dhanus was with Parasurama and he challenged Rama to string it.
Rama rose to the occasion and strung the Vishnu Dhanus. He now wanted to know the target for the arrow since it could not be wasted. Parasurama powers began to wane and his warrior-like appearance turned into that of a humble Rishi. The purpose of the avatar had ended. Parasurama realises Rama's glory and offers the powers he had earned through penance as the target for the arrow.
