OM SRI GURUPYO NAMAHA RESPECTFUL PRANAMS TO SRI KANCHI MAHA PERIVA.
Attachment brings sorrow
CHENNAI, DEC. 13. Every human being has to ask himself the question at some point of time, "what kind of life am I leading, is it a good life?" This self-analysis is a prerequisite to correct interpretation of scriptural recommendations of leading a virtuous life. Despite the fact that it is truth which will always prevail ultimately and not evil, many possess the tendency to skirt truth. When things go wrong, the immediate reaction is to blame others rather than facing truth. Purity of thought and dispassionate adherence to truth are the first steps to be taken by aspirants of liberation.
The lives of saints teaches us this philosophy said Swami Gnanananda Sarasvathi in a discourse. Mira's life is an example of total detachment. Earthly riches could not distract her nor drag her back into the mire of worldliness. Prime devotees like her scaled higher and higher on the spiritual plane.
Selfish attachment cannot but bring sorrow in its trail. A person only possesses the right to work, but not to the fruits thereof. The best way for a man to address this is to undertake whatever duty is ordained as a service to God and to develop the faculty to accept the joys and sorrows of life equitably. It is not always possible to understand why things happen the way they do. However, when one surrenders totally to God, He is there to help him. When problems plague a person he should not get disheartened, rather realise that due to his devotion and faith in the Lord the impact of whatever is happening has been minimised. When the awareness comes that a person is paying the debts of his previous births, the calmness to take adversity in his stride will prevail.
After all, a peaceful life is not one punctuated with money or material, prosperity or luxurious trappings but a happy frame of mind.
This is a gradual process and cannot be sky vaulted. However, the spirit (of detachment) must rule over senses. One should surrender to God alone, and not surrender to more than one entity.Life is a tough battle. Lord Krishna had to come down to establish dharma at a time when it was in a shambles, and established the same on a firm footing.
The quality of life that a person leads is what is important. Leading a virtuous life is what He wants.
Anyone aspiring to reach God should try to please only Him and not his fellow human beings.
