A DAY WITH LIGHT
Part 10.
Clouds climb up to the sky in a few seconds; and within seconds, they become rains and drop to the earth; our Periava is also a cloud. When His shadow falls on those unable to bear the the heat, it cools them down instantly; then as the blessing hand, this cloud spreads in their minds, and blesses them.
Gurunathan’s specialty is His ability to attain any state of mind, the moment He thinks of it! But still He has always preferred and loved to be in a state full of humanitarian qualities, leaving aside the superhuman states of mind. As He is able to throw away His superhuman feats effortlessly, He enacts this drama wonderfully. When the common people want to have confidence in themselves, the ‘Acharyar’ also should show the way by living like them. When the ‘Acharya’ stays always in that ‘superhuman’ status, it will make others (ordinary humans like us) think that these are impossible for us (to follow); in that case how can the disciples develop self-confidence that they can also progress? The best among the ‘Prasadams’ that the ‘Acharya’ gives to His disciples is this self—confidence created in them ( to believe that they can reach higher levels) by living like one among them. To show them that one among the ordinary humans can achieve higher levels (of Bhakthi) , the Acharya undertakes ‘Nishtai’, ‘Samadhi’ etc.
After the Meditation, ‘Gurunathan will listen to ‘Panchanka Patanam’---that particular day’s ‘Thithi’, ‘Vaaram’, ‘Yogam’, ‘Nakshathram’ ‘Karanam’ etc. will be read out for Him.
Then, He, as a formal Gurunathan, will conduct ‘Bhashya Patam’ to those disciples who had had proper training in Vedas and Vedantam. He will explain the elaborate commentary given by Sri Adhi Sankarar to the ‘Brahma Sutram’ penned by SriPadharayanar. This occasion itself will become the forum for the research in ‘Thathvam’ and ‘Sasthram’.
Even scholars will express their amazement at SriSaranar’s explanatory skills!
Some opinions will confuse even those great scholars! They used to express different conclusions after heated debates among themselves. After starting this detailed debate, Periava will say, with all humility, “ all of you learned people say thus and thus; I also get some thought on this; please think about it and tell me whether we can understand this way also” ; then He will explain in the easiest Samskrit, what He ‘felt’ about that debated point!
The scholars will all applaud Him, ‘beat’ their own cheeks, and prostrate before Him! And will say with a lot of emotion, “ Yes! What Periava said is the real meaning! There is no doubt that Bhagavath Padhar’ has manifested Himself as Periava and has explained what He had written”
