Brahma Kadigina Paadamu
About this song: It is a beautiful composition in Telugu by Sri. Annamacharya in glorification of the lotus feet of Lord Venkateswara. Annamacharya
explains the greatness of the lotus feet of Lord Venkateswara, an
incarnation of Lord Vishnu. He glorifies the lotus feet by recalling
some plays of Vishnu's incarnations. It is in Mukhari Ragam set to Adi Taalam.
Pallavi:
Brahma Kadigina Paadamu
Brahmamu Tannina Paadamu
Comments: The lotus feet were cleansed by the Brahma(In vAmana avatAram of lord NARAYANA, while measuring the whole universe, the second step of lord went to sathya lOka of Brahma who started cleansing lord's feet by taking the vedAs as water in to his kamanDalam. The holy feet are themselves "Brahmam"(not brahma, but it is Brahmam, the supreme Almighty).
Charanam 1:
Chelagi Vasuda Golichina Nee Paadamu
Bali Tala Mopina Paadamu
Talagaka Gaganamu Tannina Paadamu
Balaripu Gaachina Paadamu
Comments: The Lord's feet have saved the earth ("mopina") from the powerful enemy "Bali" ("bali tala") Chakravarthi when the Lord in the form of Vaamana asked him to fulfill his wish. In Vaamana Avataram, the Lord's feet measured the whole world in HIS first step and kicked (measured) the sky in the second step. In the third step, the holy foot was placed on Bali's head sending him to PaataLa loka (the bottom most loka of the 14 lokas, where the lord NARAYANA is the Guardian)
Charanam 2:
Kaamini Paapamu kadigina Paadamu
Paamu Talanidina Paadamu
Premapu Shreesati Pisikedi Paadamu
Paamidi Turagapu Paadamu
Comments: In Rama Avataram, the holy feet cleansed the sins of Ahalya. The holy feet were placed on the poisonous snake Talindi (Kalinga). The feet were gently and dearly pressed massaged ("pisakedi","premapu") by His consort, the goddess of wealth Sri Maha Lakshmi ("shreesati"). These are the holy feet that will be riding on the horse (Turagapu) in Kalki avataram.
Charanam 3:
Parama Yogulaku Pari Pari Vidhamula
Paramosagedi Nee Paadamu
Tiru Venkatagiri Tiramani Choopina
Parama Padamu Nee Paadamu
Comments: These are the feet that have given many boons ("varamosagedi") to great sages - yogis ("parama yogulaku") and have made Tiruvenkatagiri in Tirumala as Vaikuntam (paramapadam) the last destination ("tiramani coopina") to attain salvation.
