Dear all,
I hope that, all of you are aware that 'Ratha Sapthami' falls on 30th January,2012 (Monday). It is a very holy and religious day for Hindus,as Sun which is looked upon as mere planet in most of the countries,is worshipped here as an avathara of Lord Narayana Himself.(Suryanarayana)
'Ratha Sapthami' is also regarded as 'Surya Jeyenthi' as on this day only Lord Surya was born to Sage Kashyappa and Athithi Devi billions of years ago.It is also a myth that taking holy bath on this pious day will get rid of us from all sins, regardless of its magnitude and intensity. Also it is said that,we should do Tharpana today for Pithamaha Bhishmacharya,(Great Grandpa of Pandavas and Kouravas in the epic Mahabharatha).
As he was a Niyamithya Brahmachari throughout his life,he did not have direct offsprings to do his Tharpanas. At this moment Lord Sri Krishna blessed him that,'THOSE WHO DO THARPANA ON THE SEVENTH THITHI AFTER AMAVASYA IN THE FIRST MONTH OF UTTRAYANA PUNYA KALA WILL ATTAIN SALVATION OR MUKTHI.ALSO THE FRUITS OF THE THARPANA DONE ON THAT DAY WILL REACH YOU.'
Hope that this story behind 'Ratha Sapthami' would have been sufficient for you to understand its greatness and holiness.
Another important fact is that,We should also worship our Chandraseakarendra Sadguru of Kanchi (Sri Sri Sri Maha Periava) on this day to receive the anugraha of Lord Surya.
I have also attahed a greeting card specially made for you,to add on to the mood of the occasion. Please download and see and also forward to all.
MAHA PERIAVA CHARANAM
Regards,
Yogesh.
