Hanuman will bless us!
Lord Anjaneya is special in a unique way. When we observe the blessings bestowed by Him on his devotees, we will understand His specialty.

This Shloka tells us about the manifold blessings that Anjaneya showers on His ardent devotees: wisdom, strength, fame, determination, courage, health, vigour, and articulate speech.
Generally, all these traits can never be found to exist in a single person. A wise man may be of frail health. One who is physically strong may be stupid. Even if he is wise and strong, he may be a coward. However talented a person is, he may lack alertness and dynamism and remain lazy. Though one is knowledgeable, he may be found to be poor in communication skills to share his knowledge. But Anjaneya can, without any such contradiction, pour all these great qualities on one.
The reason for this is that Anjaneya Himself is a repository of all sublime qualities and powers which we can never see combined together in anyone, anywhere. They are all perfectly present in Him. Even the characteristics which we usually believe to be incompatible are coherently inherent in Him. For example, a physically strong person may not be humble and diplomatic; one who is intelligent may not have devotion without pride. But Anjaneya is outstanding because despite being mighty in both body and mind, He remained utterly humble and steadfast in devotion. He was extremely capable and yet considered that He owed all his powers only to His benefactor, Rama. Such was His humbleness that He never demanded for any position or favour, but remained a faithful servant of Rama. While remaining a servant, He was full of all noble virtues. Even among devotees, those who don’t have clear knowledge either get lost in blind faith or turn out to be ruthless fanatics. They tend to quarrel over Gyanam and Bhakti as being very different and opposites. But the great Bhakta of Ramachandra was also a great Gyani. He excelled in devotion and wisdom at the same time. The Slokam “Vaidehi Sahitham” says, Rama undertakes Gyana Upadesam by having Anjaneya Swami in front of Him just as Dakshinsmurthy had before Him, the Sanakathi sages. Anjaneya, by being present on the flag of Arjuna’s chariot, heard Baghavath Gita in person. It is believed that there is a philosophical Gita Bashyam in Paisacha language and that it was made by Anjaneya. Lord Rama praised the erudition of Anjaneya as “Nava Vyaakarana Vetthaa” for having acquired mastery over all the nine forms of Sanskrit grammar works. Yet without exposing His high knowledge and great prowess, He experienced supreme bliss only in devotion.
Being immersed in Bhakti does not mean that Anjaneya did not attend to worldly affairs. His exemplary valour has no parallel in banishing the problems faced by the helpless and in protecting them. He is the ideal example for service to the world. If there exists one who has in Him the highest form of astounding wisdom, mighty strength, selfless devotion, bravery, fame, service, all combined together surely it is only Anjaneya Swami.
Above all these crowning virtues must be mentioned the discipline of celibacy observed by Anjaneya. He was a perfect Brahmachari who was not tainted by the thought of dross desire even for a second. He was doing selfless service to His Master Rama and that filled Him with ecstasy.
In our region, we generally refer to him as ‘Hanuman’. In Karnataka He is ‘Hanumanthayya’. From the north of Chitoor throughout Andhra, He is called ‘Anjaneyalu’. Entire Maharashtra celebrates Him as ‘Maruthi’. Further north, He is spoken of as ‘ Mahavir’.
There is none equal to Anjaneya. The moment we think of Him, we will gain confidence, wisdom will dawn and mundane desires will perish. With great humility, we will carry out God’s work and serve humanity, doing good to all. Wherever “Ram” “Ram” chanting is done and Ragunatha’s praise is sung, in all such places, Anjaneya, though not visible to our eyes, is surely present shedding tears of joy, listening to Rama Nama and His glory.
At present with all other blessings, what is really required is the trait of humility. However much we get, we remain unsatisfied and keep jumping about, asking for more and more. It is because of this that we are creating more and more discontent and grievances anew for ourselves. If we can restrain ourselves and remain humble, blessings from Eswara can be attained easily. It is this munificent grace that Anjaneya can confer on us.
Those who worship Him will never have grievances at all. For Dharma to spread and establish itself all over the world, prayers must be offered to Him. It was with His help that Ravana and his men were defeated and Ramarajyam was established. Due to the glory of Anjaneya who was on the flag of Arjuna’s chariot, Dharmarajyam was subsequently established too. In later period when all Dharma and Devotion declined, Anjaneya taking the Avathar as Samartha Ramadas Swami, brought back Dharma through Shivaji. Similarly now also to establish Dharma everywhere, we need His benign grace. If we, with our hearts melting in devotion, pray to Him, Anjaneya will surely bestow this blessing on us.
