Have heard that deepam should be facing God while lighting it and some say it should be facing us (i.e those who pray)Also some say its not good to let the lamp out either by itself till the oil is out or by external medium like air so should we turn it off.if so what is the proper time and proper way for lighting deepam during prayers.

I am really stunned to note your active attitude which is a huge transformation within two weeks guru Pooja, Your passive attitude has transformed in to active attitude. This transformation is only a tip of the iceberg of your total transformation which is going make everyone to look up your progress. Your stature is going to be head above the shoulder. My best wishes to you.
Regarding oil lamp I wish to clarify your doubts.
While praying, the lamp should face the person who prays.
Lamp can burn as long as it can but if you want to put of the lamp take a flower and touch the flower in a drop of milk and put off the lamp.
You are not supposed to blow the air and put off the lamp.
You should face the west and Mahaperiyava should face the east.
Pray Mahaperiyava by interaction. Verbally you talk to Mahaperiyava with the absolute faith that Mahaperiyava is hearing. You will come to know that Mahaperiyava hears you through happenings in your life.
Get habituated to think that every good thing in life is happening because of the grace of Mahaperiyava and bad things are happening with the lesser intensity by the grace of Mahaperiyava otherwise the intensity would have been severe.
Even after 9 weeks of Guru Pooja if you feel you can continue for any number of weeks and you are protected throughout your life.
My best wishes for your professional growth. Life is to live and not leave.
Have an excellent day.

Sir when we surrender ourselves to maha periva there is no question of bad things happening. Bad things happening are the lessons which periva is correcting our lives. What we do is what we get. In some other janma we might have done something wrong that we are facing now, but to our punyam we are in safe hands of periva. Like how mother takes care of the kids in the same manner periva takes care of his bhaktas. Faith and patience are required for Guru anugraham. There is no other substitute to gain Guru anugraham.
