A very thoughtful message from Maha Periva. Everyone will be benefited if this advice is followed both in spirit & letter.Every father should encourage his children to know more about of our religious beliefs, custom, rites and duties from their tender age. our children are our future and if they are properly guided it is not only benefit us but also the whole community. As Acharya rightly said there is no point in spending lavishly for marriage/ Upanayanam etc. without achieving the desired goal of Upanayanam or Marriage. HARA HARA SANKARA, SIVA SIVA SANKARA

Though moral education has been stopped in schools , parents are duty bound to tell their children about our great epics and other religious beliefs and rituals at a very tender age itself. If they are moulded at the tender age they will never change. Let us all follow HIS advice. HAra Hara Sankara Jaya jaya sankara

Well said, Shri Narayanan.
Moral education has indeed vanished in schools. With both parents working full time in many families, children are not getting their fare share of religious teachings, primarily because the parents are unable to devote enough time for this. Even weekends are spent in activities like music, dance, swimming classes, etc, ofcourse with the pure intention that the children need overall development, and not just academic excellence. However, Parents need to also realize that character and disciple is what makes a civilized citizen and equal attention must be given to impart in the young minds the value of our great epics and religious beliefs. To start with, children can be made to read atleast two pages from Deivathin Kural/ Voice of God everyday, before going to bed.
